A brief history: from Buzsko to a modern spa resort

The history of Busk-Zdrój dates back to the 12th century, when the town was known as Bużsk. It was first mentioned in 1166, and from 1190 to 1819 the town belonged to the Norbertine Order. In 1287 Prince Leszek the Black granted Busk city rights under Magdeburg Law, which contributed to its development, although the following centuries were fraught with challenges - destruction during the Swedish Deluge and the great fire of 1820 became a permanent part of the town's history. The breakthrough came in the 18th century with the discovery of therapeutic waters, and since 1836 Busko has functioned as a health resort, shaping its unique character until modern times.
